Info:Bereits in den 1850er Jahren errichtete Th. Meissen in der Buchholzer Pankstr. 8-10 eine Lederfabrik. 1895 wurde die Fabrik von Friedrich Wilhelm Röseler erworben. 1911 wurde Carl Potthoff jr. Besitzer, 1921 nahm er seinen Kompagnon Kayser auf. 1924 Umwandlung in eine AG (bis 1926 mit dem Zusatz „Potthoff & Kayser“). Hergestellt wurden Schuhoberleder, Bekleidungsleder und Fischleder. Obwohl Blankenburg als erster Ort an der Bernauer Vorortstrecke der Berlin-Stettiner Eisenbahn bereits 1877 einen Bahnhof erhielt, blieben große Industrieansiedlungen aus. Noch vor der Hydrocarbonfabrik war und blieb deshalb die Lederfabrik der bedeutendste Betrieb des Ortes. Großaktionär war zuletzt die Cornelius Heyl AG, Worms. 1949 enteignet und weitergeführt als VEB Lederfabrik Blankenburg Mark, später VEB Lederfabrik „Solidarität“. 1990 Umwandlung in die „berlinleder GmbH“, im Herbst 1992 stillgelegt.
