Ab 1878 Bau von Lokomotiven. 1891 wurde die Firma in Lima Locomotive & Machine Co. und 1912 in die Lima Locomotive Corp. umorganisiert, 1916 von Joel Coffin aufgekauft und in Lima Locomotive Works umbenannt. Neben Baldwin Locomotive Works und American Locomotive Co. wurde LIMA zum drittgrößten Lokomotivproduzenten der Welt. 1947 fusionierte LIMA mit der General Machinery Corp. von Hamilton, Ohio zur Lima-Hamilton Corp. und 1950 mit Baldwin Locomotive Works zur Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corp.
