Francaise in Paris. 1893 schloss sich Cycles Whitworth mit Daniel Rudge zusammen (Rudge-Withworth Coventry, dessen Markenzeichen eine rote Hand vor einem Drahtspeichenrad war). 1909 begann man mit der Konstruktion eines eigenen Motorrades.
