Aber der Planwurde erst einmal aufgegeben. Die South Carolina RR war der direkte Nachfolger der South Carolina Canal and Railroad, die ihre 136 Meilen lange Strecke von Charleston, S.C. nach Hamburg, S.C. 1833 eröffnete. 1843 wurde die SCC&RR und die Louisville, Cincinnati & Charleston RR reorganisiert und als South Carolina RR gegründet. 1881 als South Carolina Ry reorganisiert.
