Die 47 Meilen lange Bahn Watkins-Canandaigua, N.Y. wurde 1851 eröffnet. 1852 umbenannt zu Canandaigua & Elmira Rail Road. 1857 nach Insolvenz verkauft an George B. Holmes, der sie zu Elmira, Canandaigua & Niagara Falls RR reorganisierte. Nach dem Bankrott 1858 wurde sie 1859 umbenannt in Elmira, Jefferson & Canandaigua Railroad. Ab 1859 für 20 Jahre verpachtet an die New York & Erie RR, die die Strecke 1866 an die Northern Central Railway weiter verpachtete. Die Bahn griff sich dann Ende der 1870er Jahre Thomas A.
