Die Bahn wurde 1865 eröffnet. Wir haben hier den interessanten Fall, daß der Präsident der Bahn höchstpersönlich auch der Namensgeber des von der Bahn angefahrenen Ortes ist! 1866-70 Betriebsführung durch die Philadelphia, Wilmington & Baltimore RR, 1879 zwangsversteigert und von den Anleihegläubigern am 24.6.1880 unter gleichem Namen reorganisiert. Im Jan. 1884 übernahm A.J.
