place: | Columbia, Lancaster County, Pa. | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 22 | | Info: | Konzessioniert 1871 von den Staaten Pennsylvania und Maryland für den Bau der 13 Meilen langen grenzüberschreitenden Bahn von Valley Junction, Pa. an der Strecke der Hanover Branch Railroad nach Ebbvale, Md. (etwas nördlich von Manchester), wo die Bahn an einer Eisenerzmine endete. Ihr Hauptzweck war der Transport von Eisenerz zu den örtlichen Hochöfen. 1879 traf nahe der Staatsgrenze in Lineborough die Baltimore & Hanover RR auf die Bachman Valley RR, 1886 wurden beide Bahnen unter Einschluß der Hanover Junction, Hanover & Gettysburg RR verschmolzen und dann Teil des Systems der Western Maryland Ry., in diese 1917 vollständig eingegliedert. Als die Eisenerzbergwerke im Gebiet von Ebbvale Anfang des 20. Jh. schlossen, wurde der in Maryland gelegene Streckenteil ab Black Rock stillgelegt.
