place: | Teufen | | Picture: |  | | Info: | Sukzessive Eröffnung der dampfbetriebenen Straßenbahn von 1889 bis 1904, Betriebslänge 28 km. 1931 Elektrifizierung und Umbenennung von Appenzeller Straßenbahn in Elektrische Bahn St. Gallen-Gais-Appenzell. 1947 fusionierte die Ges. mit der 1911 eröffneten Altstätten-Gais-Bahn zur St. Gallen-Gais-Appenzell-Altstätten-Bahn. 1975 verlor die Ges. ihren direkten Anschluss zum Bahnhof Altstätten SBB infolge der Betriebsumstellung der Rheintaler Straßenbahnen, weshalb die Züge von Gais heute in Altstätten enden und in einen Bus umgestiegen werden muss. Nach 12jährigen Sanierungsarbeiten ist die SGA heute eine moderne Vororts- und Ausflugsbahn. 1988 Fusion mit der Appenzeller Bahn (Streckenlänge 60 km). | | Availability: | Jeweils mit kpl. anh.
