Die Stadt Portland hatte in den Jahren 1863-1941 einen Straßenbahnbetrieb. In seiner größten Ausdehnung hatte das Netz eine Streckenlänge von 164 km. Das Netz erschloß nicht nur die Stadt Portland selbst, sondern auch die Nachbarstädte South Portland und Westbrook mit Überlandstrecken nach Saco, Old Orchard Beach, Cumberland und Yarmouth.
