Die Firma Proschwitzky & Hofrichter trat ursprünglich als Stettiner Reederei auf, deren Segler und Dampfer bereits in den 1850er Jahren Passagier- und Frachtfahrten auf der Strecke Stettin-Memel-Tilsit anboten.
