Die Triebwagen waren die ersten in der Schweiz, die sowohl im Adhäsions- als auch im Zahnradbetrieb zum Einsatz kamen. 1964 Verlängerung der Bahn über Stansstad hinaus nach Hergiswil an der Brünigbahn, eröffnet am 12.19.1964. Dadurch wurde duchgehender Betrieb Luzern-Stans-Engelberg möglich.
