Geplante Strecke von Dallas, Tex. nach Wichita, Tex., Länge 160 Meilen. 1880 waren 20 Meilen, von Dallas nach Lewisville in Betrieb. 1881 übernommen von der Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railway. Diese bedeutende Bahn, im Volksmund “Katy” genannt, geriet 1880 unter die Kontrolle des berüchtigten Jay Gould und wurde von ihm bis 1888 finanziell bis zum Bankrott ausgeplündert. 1891 übernahm eine Gruppe unter der Leitung von John D. Rockefeller die „Katy“ und baute sie innerhalb kurzer Zeit zu einer der führenden Eisenbahngesellschaften im Süden der USA aus.
