Stratton bewahrte bei der Exploration des riesigen Goldvorkommens kühlen Kopf und entwickelte das Goldbergwerk langsamer, dafür aber nur mit eigenem Geld. So blieb die Mine als eine der ganz wenigen bis 1899 im Privatbesitz eines einzigen Eigentümers. Stratton brauchte keine Gesellschaft zur Kapitalaufnahme zu gründen, da die Reichhaltigkeit der Goldadern das Arbeitskapital “produzierte” - die Mine bezahlte sich sozusagen selbst. Stratton wurde durch die Mine 1893 der erste Millionär in der Cripple Creek Region und später zum unumstrittenen Goldbaron. Stratton’s “Independence” wurde der drittgrößte Goldprouzent im Cripple Creek Distrikt mit einer Gesamtproduktion von 1,5 Mio. Goldunzen. 1899 verkaufte Stratton seine Mine an die “Venture Corporation” in London für 11 Mio. $. | | Specials: | Ausgestellt auf W.S.
