Begonnen wurde das “5 and 10 cent”-Geschäft 1879 in Lancaster, Pa. 1909 wurde das erste britische Geschäft in Liverpool eröffnet. Die Geschäfte wuchsen sehr schnell und im Jahr 1926 gab es 1.480 Stores in den USA und Kanada und 230 in England. Kurz vor dem 100-jährigen Firmenjubiläum fiel Woolworth der Finanzkrise zum Opfer. Am 26.
