Der Bahnbau begann 1852, kam wegen finanzieller Schwierigkeiten mehrfach zum Erliegen, und wurde erst Ende 1858 fertig. Ende der 1850er Jahre erhielt die Bahn bei Wawa eine niveaugleiche Kreuzung mit der Phildelphia & Baltimore Central RR. Später hochprofitable Bahn, die bis zu 20 % Dividende zahlen konnte. 1880 von der Philadelphia, Wilmington & Baltimore RR übernommen worden, mit dieser 1881 zur Philadelphia & Baltimore Central RR gekommen und schließlich im System der Pennsylvania RR aufgegangen. Nach dem Konkurs der PennCentral übernahm 1978 das öffentliche Nahverkehrsunternehmen SEPTA die Strecke.
