Dieser ausgesprochen frühen Werft folgten die Barrow Shipbuilding Co., Vickers Shipbuilding und BAE Systems (Kriegsschiffe und U-Boote). Im Laufe der Zeit wurden hier 373 Handelsschiffe, 312 U-Boote und 148 Kriegsschiffe gebaut. Neben vielen Ozeanriesen für die Cunard Line und andere Reedereien verdienen Erwähnung der 103.000-Tonnen-Öltanker Britisch Admiral (beim Stapellauf das größte Schiff der Welt) sowie gleich drei Flaggschiffe der Royal Navy (die Albion, die Invincible und die Bulwark).
