Der Bahnbau ging, auch aus Geldmangel, aber erst einmal nicht voran. 1843 wurden die SCC&RR und die zahlungsunfähig gewordene Louisville, Cincinnati & Charleston RR gemeinsam reorganisiert als South Carolina RR.
