An die "lopulco"-Lokomotiven waren Tender mit Kohlenstaubtank angehängt. Über Verbindungsschläuche wurde mittels Druckluft der Kohlenstaub zu den Brennern der Loks transportiert. Die Lopulco-Loks kamen zuerst auf den Strecken der New York Central RR, ab 1917 setzte die Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe RR sowie die Delaware & Hudson RR jeweils eine dieser Loks an. In Deutschland experimentierte die AEG ab 1918 mit dem Bau von Kesseln für Lopulco-Lokomotiven, die ab 1913 zum Einsatz kamen. Die Locomotive Pulverized Fuel Co. schloss mit mehreren Staatsbahnen Verträge zur Lieferung von Ausrüstungen für Lopulco-Lokomotiven, u.a. 1922 mit Brasilien, danach mit der chilenischen Staatsbahn und schließlich mit der Imperial Government Railway in Japan. | | Specials: | Sehr dekorative Darstellung einer Lopulco-Lokomotive.
