Die Alton wurde seit 1906 von der Union Pacific und dann der Rock Island kontrolliert, 1931 übernahm die Baltimore & Ohio die Aktienmehrheit, 1947 in die Gulf, Mobile & Ohio RR verschmolzen, dann aufgegangen in der Gulf, Mobile and Ohio RR.
