place: | Liége | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 1551 | | Info: | Die 1903 mit belgischem Kapital gegründete Ges. erwarb von der Familie Mumm von Schwarzenstein deren Palais an der Frankfurter Zeil. 1904 wurde das Warenhaus Schmoller hinzuerworben. 1905 entstand auf dem Areal des vormaligen Palais Mumm unter Leitung des belgischen Architekten Victor Horta der Grand Bazar, gebaut als reine Eisenkonstruktion mit viel Glas und einer eindrucksvollen Jugendstilfassade. Im 1. Weltkrieg kam eine französische Firmenbezeichnung nicht mehr so gut an, deshalb 1914 in „Kaufhaus Hansa“ umbenannt. 1921 von der Kaufhaus Hansa AG übernommen worden, einer Kaufhauskette des jüdischen Unternehmers Hermann Schmoller. 1938 zwangsarisiert, 1952 an Hertie verkauft. | | Availability: | Unentwertet, Kupons ab 1929 anhängend.
