G. W. Hunt war ein umtriebiger Eisenbahnbau-Unternehmer im Nordwesten der USA. Zunächst war er mit dem Bau dieser Bahn nur beauftragt, doch als er nach 30 Meilen Trassierungsarbeiten merkte, daß ihr das Geld ausging, kaufte er sie kurzerhand und fügte sie seinem Konzern hinzu.
