(Das Gegenstück auf dem Staatsgebiet von Indiana war die schmalspurige Mississippi & Atlantic RR.) Jay Gould kontrollierte diese Bahn und fusionierte sie einige Jahre später mit der Wabash RR. Nachdem Gould die Wabash zu Grunde gerichtet hatte, kam es zur Zwangsversteigerung der Bahnen, die als Leroy & Eastern RR sowie als Lebanon & Western RR reorganisiert wurden. Danach wurden sie von der Illinois Central gekauft und 1887 zur Rantoul RR fusioniert. Die namensgebende Stadt Rantoul (gut 100 Meilen südlich von Chicago) ist nach Robert Rantoul benannt, damals Direktor der Illinois Central. 1943 wurde die Strecke stillgelegt. | | Availability: | Äußerst selten, bei uns erstmals überhaupt in der Auktion. | | Condition: | VF+. | | Sold: | unsold |
