Die Bank sorgte 1907-1913 für weltweite Schlagzeilen, als sie den weltweiten Silbermarkt zu manipulieren versuchte und eine künstliche Blase erzeugte. Die treibende Kraft dieser Manipulation war Chunilal Saraya, Managing Director der Bank. Mit 30 Mio. Unzen kam er aber nicht gegen die Londoner Finanzwelt an, die seine Silberhausse zermalmte. 1913 beging Saraya Selbstmord, seine Bank wurde 1914 liquidiert.
