Das Renard-Patent bestand in einer Methode, die es erlaubte mehr als nur einen Anhänger exakt hintereinander nachzuführen. Die Gründung der Renard Road & Rail Transport Corp. erfolgte nachdem Daimler die Produktion in Coventry übernahm. 1912 wurde die Renard-Firma reorganisiert. Auch in Deutschland bestand Interesse an Automobilenlastzügen, die von dem Preußischen Kriegsministerium in Südwestafrika eingesetzt wurden.
