place: | Canton, Ohio | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 11 | | Info: | Ursprünglich die 1894/95 erbaute Millersburg, Jeromeville & Greenwich RR, die 1898/99 nach Ashland, O. verlängert wurde und dort einen großen Güter- und Personenbahnhof baute. 1907 wurde die Ashland & Western an Joseph Ramsey Jr. verkauft, den zuborigen President der Wabash RR, der gerade auch die Lorain & Ashland RR gebaut hatte. Beide Bahnen fusionierte er 1914 zur Lorain, Ashland & Southern RR mit der Strecke Lorain-Custaloga, O. 1916 gemeinschaftlich von der Pennsylvania RR und der Erie RR erworben worden, die damit Zugang zum Stahlwerk der National Tube Co. in South Lorain erlangten. 1925 wegen starken Wettbewerbs und nach aufgedeckten Buchmanipulationen aufgegeben worden. | | Specials: | Gedruckt in schwarz/gold, Vignette mit aus Tunnel ausfahrendem Personenzug, goldenes Prägesiegel. | | Availability: | Noch nie zuvor angebotenes Einzelstück aus einer alten Ohio-Sammlung. | | Condition: | Dreieck-Ausschnitt unten, sonst VF. | | Sold: | 110,00 EUR |
