Mit der 1860 gegründeten Holliday‘s Cove RR fusionierten sie 1868 zu obiger Ges., die gemeinhin als Pan Handle Route bekannt war (da sie von Pittsburgh kommend das Northern Panhandle of West Virginia querte). In Dradford, O. teilte sich die Strecke in einen nördlichen Abschnitt nach Chicago und einen südlichen über Indianapolis nach East St. Louis. Die spätere Pittsburg, Cincinnati, Chicago & St. Louis wurde 1921 an die Pennsylvania RR verpachtet und 1956 in deren Phbiladelphia, Baltimore & Washington RR fusioniert.
