Bis zur Gründung der „Bank of Greece“ im Jahr 1928 fungierte sie auch als griechische Notenbank. 1927 gründete sie ihr Hypothekenbankgeschäft in die National Mortgage Bank of Greece aus, für deren Anleihen sie eine unbedingte Garantie übernahm. 1998 wurden beide Institute wieder fusioniert.
