Im ersten Jahrzehnt bot sie mit ihren Frachtkähnen den einzigen regulären Liniendienst überhaupt zwischen New York und Philadelphia und erwirtschaftete damit Renditen von 40 % p.a. 1850 wurde die Firma an Investoren aus Philadelphia verkauft, die sie dann in die 1855 neu gegründete Merchants Transportation Co. einbrachten.
