Margolin als Direktoren. Eliezer Margolin (1875-1944), Soldat und Kaufmann, wanderte 1892 von der südwestrussischen Stadt Belgorad nach Palästina aus. Während der wirtschaftlichen Krise 1902 in Palästina wanderte er nach Australien aus, wo er Karriere als Berufssoldat machte. 1916-17 drei mal verwundert, 1918 übernahm er das Kommando über eines der dreien Jüdischen Bataillone der Britischen Arme, die in Palästina gegen die Türken kämpften. Danach baute Margolin das Erste Judische Bataillon von Judäa auf, mit eigenen Uniformen und Abzeichen und dem Hebräischen als Amtssprache.
