Bald wurde es eine der Hauptattraktionen von Mexico-Stadt, 1949 setzte der Regisseur Germán Valdéz Tin-Tan dem Zug in seinem Film El Rey del Barrio ein filmisches Denkmal. In den 1960er Jahren wurde das Streckennetz stark erweitert und in Chapultepec ein neuer Bahnhof gebaut.
