Die 11 Meilen lange Bahn von Phoenixville nach Byers im Chester County war eine sog. „milk run“ line. Sie transportierte Agrarerzeugnisse lokaler Farmen nach Phoenixville, wo sie auf Züge nach Philadelphia umgeladen wurden. Aus den Minen der Gegend wurde aber auch Eisenerz zur Phoenix Iron Co. in Phoenixville transportiert. 1906 nach Ablauf des Pachtvertrages formell in die Philadelphia & Reading RR eingegliedert. Die Bahn warf zeitlebens nicht einen einzigen Cent Überschuß ab. 1934 Einstellung des Passagierverkehrs, 1948 Stilllegung großer Teile der Strecke, die kümmerlichen Reste wurden 1980 dichtgemacht. | | Condition: | EF-VF. | | Sold: | unsold |
