Bereits 1894 „schluckte“ die Mutual ihren Konkurrenten Hawaiian Bell und später auch alle anderen Telefongesellschaften auf dem Archipel. Mit der Übernahme des Telefongeschäfts der Hawaiian Pineapple Co. auf der Insel Lana‘i 1954 besaß Mutual dann das gesamte Telefongeschäft der Hawaii-Inseln und firmierte bei der Gelegenheit in Hawaiian Telephone Co. um.
