Die Schmalspurbahn von Lieres zum Hafen von El Musel mit Abzweig nach Gijon entstand auf dem Höhepunkt des Kohlebergbaus in Asturien in Konkurrenz zur seit 1852 in Betrieb befindlichen Langreo-Bahn. 1910 ging derm Unternehmen das Geld aus, Rollmaterial und Bahnhofsgebäude wurden von Gläubigern beschlagnahmt, 1916 bankrott.
