Sie war von Anfang an elektrifiziert und erzeugte ihren Strom selbst im Wasserkraftwerk von Goizueta. Ihr markantestes Bauwerk war der noch heute von Bahn und Straße benutzte Vergobia-Viadukt. Die Meterspur ermöglichte am Bahnhof Amara den Anschluß an das restliche baskische Streckennetz.
