Am Ende ergab sich ein bedeutendes System von 1.370 Meilen Länge mit der Hauptstrecke Memphis-New Orleans. | | Specials: | Als „directors share“ ausgestellt auf und rückseitig original unterschrieben von Stuyvesant Fish (1851-1923, geboren als Sohn von Hamilton Fish, 16ter Gouverneur von New York und Senator, als U.S. Secretary of State der Eckpfeiler der Administration von Präsident Ulisses S. Grant. 1887 wurde Stuyvesant Fish president der Illinois Central und leitete deren größte Expansionsphase ein. 1906 drängte ihn Edward H. Harriman aus dem Amt: Fishs‘ Frau, eine bekannte Salonlöwin der New Yorker Society, hatte den Fehler gemacht, Harrimans‘ Frau von einer ihrer legendären Parties wegzuekeln ...).
