place: | Delaware | | Picture: |  | | Number: | D25173 | | Info: | Ursprünglich gegründet 1903 als Western Pacific Railway zum Bau einer 1.500 km langen Bahn von Salt Lake City nach San Francisco durch die Staaten Utah, Nevada und Kalifornien unter Beteiligung der Denver & Rio Grande RR (eröffnet 1911, anknüpfend an das westliche Ende der D.&.R.G.RR). Der Bau wurde doppelt so teuer wie geplant, nun fehlte Geld für Zufuhrbahnen, deshalb 1915 Konkurs und Reorganisation als „Railroad“. Diese besaß dann auch 50 % der Aktien der Denver & Rio Grande Western und kam 1926 unter die Kontrolle von Arthur C. James, der auch schon größere Anteile der Great Northern, der Northern Pacific und der Chicago, Burlington & Quincy besaß. 1935 ein weiteres Mal pleite, 1944 reorganisiert, 1979 Management-Buy-Out, 1982 zusammen mit der Missouri Pacific von der Union Pacific übernommen worden. | | Condition: | EF. | | Sold: | 45,00 EUR |
