Der berühmteste Auftrag war 1926 der Funkturm in Berlin. Mit der Übernahme durch die Preussag verliert Steffens & Nölle 1972 seine juristische Selbständigkeit und wird zuletzt der Salzgitter Maschinen und Anlagen (SMAG) angegliedert, ehe Preussag Noell GmbH / Babcock AG die Führung übernehmen. Das Wachsen der Mobilfunkbranche, die Funkmasten braucht, beschert der heutigen Turmbau Steffens & Nölle GmbH eine Sonderkonjunktur ohne gleichen.
