Bis 1942 gab es Banknoten heraus in der Bankengruppe der "Big Four", wozu die Central Bank of China, die Agricultural bank of China und die Bank of Communication gehörten. Obgleich die Bank anfangs als Zentralbank für die Regierung Chinas diente, wurde sie 1928 von der Central Bank of China abgelöst. Mit der Zeit wurde die BOC zu einer kommerziellen Bank. | | Specials: | Diese DM-Anleihe im Gesamtbetrag von 150 Mio. DM gehörte zu den frühen chinesischen Fremdwährungsanleihen in Europa. Sie signalisierte die wirtschaftliche Öffnung des kommunistischen Landes und ein Vertrauensbeweis westlicher Investoren. Dekoratives Papier mit dem damaligen Emblem der Bank of China, einem stilisierten traditionellen Dachtempel. Die goldenen Ähren links und rechts davon symbolisieren Wohlstand und staatliche Stabilität. Die roten Blumenornamente stehen für die Volksrepublik China.
