(of Delaware) für den Aufbau des transatlantischen Flugbootsverkehrs. Durch das enge Geflecht mit dem US-Postministerium sicherte sich Pan Am de facto das Monopol für den US-Auslandsflugverkehr. Im 2. WK wurden die Strukturen und Flugboote der Gesellschaften eng in die Logistik des US-Militärs eingebunden. Erst im Jahr 1950 wurde der weltbekannte Name der gesamten Gruppe einheitlich zu Pan American World Airways, Inc.
