Dasselbe Prinzip übernahm DAF Ende der 60-er Jahre und stellte knatternde Autos her, welche sich besonders bei älteren Damen durchsetzten. Die in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania gebauten Gearless-Wagen besaßen einen Dampfmotor, dessen beide Zylinder ihre Leistung auf je ein Hinterrad übertrugen. Bis 1923 wurden ca. 15 bis 20 Automobile hergestellt.
