place: | Schweinfurt | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 102981 | | Info: | 1895 Gründung unter der Firma “Schweinfurter Präcisions-Kugellager-Werke Fichtel & Sachs”. 1923 Umwandlung in eine AG. 1929 Änderung des Firmennamens in Fichtel & Sachs AG (heute ZF Sachs AG), die Herstellung von Kugel- und Rollenlagern wurde in die “Vereinigte Kugellagerfabriken AG” eingebracht. Bereits in den 1930er Jahren als Hersteller von kleinvolumigen Zweitakt-Einbaumotoren für den Zweiradantrieb (Mopeds und Motorräder) und für stationäre Zwecke bekannt. Daneben machte man sich einen Namen als Zulieferbetrieb für die Automobilindustrie (Kupplungen, Saxomat-Getriebe, Stoßdämpfer, Drehmomentwandler u.v.m.). Bekannt sind auch die Fichtel & Sachs Fahrrad-Gangschaltungen, insbesondere die von Ernst Sachs entwickelte Torpedo-Nabe.
