Besonders interessant ist die Entwicklung von “Soledad City”: Im Gebiet zwischen Canyon Country und Acton zog diese “Stadt”, eine Ansammlung von Holzhütten, Zelten, Bars und Prostituierten, bei Bedarf einfach von Fundort zu Fundort das Tal hinauf und hinab. Einen ebenso mobilen Grocery Store unterhielt der Ire James O’Reilly. Als die Stadt ein Postamt erhalten sollte, lehnte der U.S. Postal Service den Namen Soledad wegen Verwechslungsgefahr ab. Auf Vorschlag von O’Reilly (und vielleicht um sich die besondere Gunst seiner leichten Mädchen zu erschleichen) erhielt die Stadt daraufhin den Namen Ravenna, zu Ehren des Saloon-Besitzers Manuel Ravenna.
