Foods as secretary. Warren Woods and his sons Harry and Frank wer member of the Colorado Springs Mining Stock Exchange and heavily promoted their town, vast mine holdings and other businesses. The Woods brothers had mining interests not only in the Cripple Creek District, but also in Mexico. The Woods Investment Co. was one of the largest brokarege firms in Colorado Springs at the turn of the 20th century and controlled a great deal of real estate and mines in the Cripple Creek District. At their peak, the Woods family controlled more then two dozen mining Companies. Many of their miscellaneous mining properties was consolidated into the United Gold Mines Co. after ist incorporation in 1902. The Woods empire was worth $45 million. Rumors of an impending collapse caused a run of their First National Bank of Victor, in 1910 the Woods Investment Co. closed its doors. Harry Woods mooved to California to start a new fortune in the oil business. Hisrory of shares on reverse. Extremely rare. One of 4 known certificates.
