place: | Minnesota | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 87 | | Info: | Diese schon 1880 projektierte Bahn zweigte bei St. Cloud am Mississippi Richtung Ostnordost von der von St. Paul/Minneapolis kommenden Hauptstrecke der Northern Pacific Railroad ab und führte bis Grantsburg, Wisconsin. Das Projekt gestaltete sich ungemein schwierig, denn St. Cloud lag auf der “falschen” Seite des Mississippi, und Geld für eine teure Brücke über den Fluß war lange Zeit nicht da. Erst nach 1900 konnte die Bahn eröffnet werden. Wie desolat ihre Situation gewesen sein muß, zeigt die Tatsache, daß die sonst nicht gerade für vorsichtiges Bilanzieren bekannte NP ihre Beteiligung bis auf 1 $ abgeschrieben hatte. | | Specials: | Kleine Vignette mit Uralt-Eisenbahn. | | Availability: | Sehr selten. | | Condition: | VF+. | | Sold: | 80,00 EUR |
