In weniger als 20 Jahren schwoll ihre Einwohnerzahl auf 15.000 an (heute leben dort noch 2800 Menschen). Diese 1895 von englischen und französischen Investoren gegründete Ges. erwarb in der Nähe von Lillooet umfangreiches Schwemmland, um in dem vom Fraser River abgelagerten Geröll aus den Bergen Gold zu waschen.
