Gemeinsam mit Commonwealth und dem russischstämmigen Industriellen Morris Mankin kam es 1923 zur Gründung einer neuen Checker Automobilfabrik. Zunächst erhielt die gelben Taxiwagen Vierzylindermotoren von Buda, dann Achtzylinder von Lycoming, ab 1947 Sechszylinder von Continental. Größere Wagen, Sechs- oder Achttürer für Hotel- und Flughafenservice, bekamen V8-Motoren von Chevrolet. Ab 1959 gab es den Checker erstmals für Privatkunden.
