Das Kirchheimer Etablissement bestand bereits seit 1761 als Handweberei, ab 1857 dann Maschinen-Betrieb. Das Bissinger Werk entstand 1897. Außerdem Zweigbetriebe in Urach und Schlitz (Hessen). 1926 Fusion mit der Mech. Flachsspinnerei Bayreuth AG, 1937/38 wurden die Göppinger Betriebe der Firma A. Gutmann & Co. GmbH übernommen. Die bis heute börsennotierte AG war lange einer der "weißen Raben" der krisengeschüttelten Textilindustrie.
