Die Bahn wird mit Gleichstrom betrieben. Die Bahnstrecke Monthey-Champery weist drei zusammen etwa 3,5 km lange Zahnstangenabschnitte (System Strub, Maximalsteigung 135 Promille) auf. Der Name der ehemaligen Monthey-Champery-Morgins Eisenbahn weist darauf hin, dass ursprünglich eine Zweigstrecke nach Morgins (damals ein bekanntes Bad mit eisenhaltigem Wasser) vorgesehen war.
