Das Hotel war beliebt bei den Amerikanern die Frankreich mittels Transatlantischen Ozean-Dampfern über den Hafen von Cherbourg erreichten. 1931 gekauft von dem Banker Francois Dupre. 1996 erwarb der Saudische Geschäftsmann Al-Waleed bin Talal das Hotel.
