Jh. nach Brüssel, baute dort einen Sattlerbetrieb für die Ausstattung hochwertiger Kutschen auf und zog später nach Paris. Sein Sohn Antoine Joseph arbeitete ab etwa 1900 bei der bereits 1845 gegründete Kutschenfabrik von V. Morel. Die Brüder Grümmer übernahmen 1919 den Morel-Betrieb und benannten ihn in Ets. Grümmer um. Anfangs fertigten sie noch hochwertige individuelle Inneneinrichtungen für Kutschen, wendeten sich dann aber dem Automobil zu. Der Betrieb bestand bis 1933. Schon 1924 hatte sich Gaston Grümmer selbständig gemacht. Als Pilot im 1. Weltkrieg von der Luftfahrt beeinflußt und setzte deshalb konsequent auf Leichtbau, Aerodynamik und möglichst niedrige Karrosserieformen zur Senkung des Schwerpunkts. Seine Aéroprofile genannten Aufbauten mit fließenden Formen wurden u.a. auf Chassis von Alfa Romeo, Renault und Hispano-Suiza montiert. | | Specials: | Ausgesprochen dekorativ, große Vignette eines Luxus-Oldtimers, Umrandung mit Jugendstil-Elementen. | | Availability: | Unentwertet, kpl.
